The movie pretty much picks up where the last one ended. "Nick", played by Craig Robinson, is a famous musician and owns his own record label but begins to feel guilty about ripping off famous songs before they're ever created. "Lou", played by Rob Corddry, is still an asshole and still rich after inventing "Lougle" (he ripped off Google). He also stole the hot tub time machine from the original movie and put it in his house and figured out a way to synthesize the chemical that allowed them to time travel in the first place. Now, they can time travel as much as they want.
At the end of the movie, they discover "Adam" was the one who shot "Lou" out of revenge for something he does 10 years in the future.... Told you it was stupidly complicated. So, this time it's "Lou" that flickers if he messes with the space time continuum and they end up saving his life / existence while becoming best friends n the process... (of course). But at the very end of the film, John Cusack pops up and shoots "Lou" in the head.....? Then they reveal there are tons of alternate dimensions with tons of alternate versions of themselves. I thought this was supposed to be a silly comedy, but it's hard to follow what's going on and there is absolutely no character development. It was a giant disappointment just as I predicted, so I give this sequel a 5 /10.
