This is the latest "Point Grey" production / Seth Rogen movie. This is sort of a late review of this Christmas movie, I posted the trailer on here back in October 2015, but now I finally got a chance to watch it, and it made me LOL....literally. I was laughing throughout most of the film. "The Night Before" is produced by Evan Goldberg, who has produced almost all of Seth Rogen's "Point Grey" films. Including other hit comedies like, "This is The End", "The Interview", and "Neighbors". This movie is just as hilarious as the rest of Rogen's films (just as I expected) and it's an instant classic! It's based in New York and stars Seth Rogen, Anthony Mackie, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as three unlikely best friends who have a Christmas tradition they do every year together. However, this is the last Christmas eve these life-long friends are going to spend together. They're older now and life has changed for them, so this tradition is ending with one last Christmas adventure that blows "Harold & Kumar Christmas" out of the water! They're partying, taking drugs, drinking, and buying weed from a Christmas angel disguised as a weird drug dealer, played by Michael Shannon. His name is "Mr. Green" and he is also the "Ghost of Christmas Past, Present, and Future". He smokes "Christmas Present" weed with Anthony Mackie, the "Christmas Future" weed with Seth Rogen, and the weed of "Christmas Past" with Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
This film features other familiar faces, such as Jillian Bell, Lizzy Caplan, Randall Park, and as always; James Franco and Mindy Kaling. The movie is full of non-stop laughs, especially when Seth Rogen is tripping on mushrooms! They really end this annual tradition with a BANG! That includes everything from playing the famous floor piano in NYC, to doing Run DMC karaoke. But this year, they finally get invitations to the legendary, secret Christmas eve party called "The Nutcracker Ball", where Joseph Gordon-Levitt performs live on stage with Miley Cyrus. The three friends all split up at one point in the evening, but they find their way back to each other, and they become even closer as friends. Tracey Morgan plays "Santa" as the narrator in the beginning and ending of the movie. It's so funny, I could honestly watch it over and over again (it's also probably awesome to watch while high/tripping). I give "The Night Before" a 9/ 10. It's original, hilarious, and stars an interesting group of actors. Plus, I loved all the "Home Alone" references too!
