I never heard about this movie until recently, and there was no marketing behind the release of this film on September 18, 2015. I think it pretty much went straight to "On Demand" & Netflix. Which is surprising, considering the film stars the likes of Rainn Wilson, Elijah Wood, and Jack McBrayer in this horror-comedy movie about zombie kids. I love zombie movies & TV shows, so I was excited when I discovered this film. Unfortunately, the zombie make-up looks cheap and the zombie kids don't look like real zombies, they just have red paint on their face and cheap Halloween make-up. Plus, it's hard to be scared of kids, and maybe that's why no one has ever made a zombie movie where the virus only affects people that haven't gone through puberty yet. (Hence the title, "Cooties")
It's a strange premise, but it actually turned out to be a fun and thrilling movie. These comedy heavy-hitters like, Rainn Wilson and Jack McBrayer really make this movie hilarious. The dialogue between the "teachers" when they're hiding from their zombie students is what makes it so funny. This movie is directed by Jonathan Millot, a first time director... so it could have been stupid, but it turned out to be a great, short (88 min), and fresh take on the whole zombie theme. The only part of the film I didn't like was the ending because there was no resolution to the story and the movie leaves the audience wondering "What happens next?" Does the pretty girl end up with Rainn Wilson or Elijah Wood's character?? It just shows the surviving teachers driving off into the distance together at the end. Still, I definitely recommend this movie to fans of horror AND/OR comedy films, because there is a lot of gore in this film as well as non-stop laughs. I Loved it, and I give "Cooties" a 9 /10.
