"Get Hard" - Movie Review

This review is long over-due, the movie released in late March 2015 and I just saw it in late June. I said in my post of this movie's trailer, that there was a 50/50 chance of it being a comedy classic OR another one of WIll Ferrell's failed attempts at making a funny comedy. You can never be sure with him, but I'm a fan of Kevin Hart and I liked the premise of the movie. So, I was very open-minded when watching this movie and I ended up very impressed.

Will Ferrell plays "James King", a wealthy, naive, stock broker who gets framed for fraud and money laundering. The judge decides to make an example of this silver-spooned, white collar billionaire and sentences him to 10 years at San Quentin prison. He also gives him 30 days to get his affairs in order before turning himself in to serve his sentence. .

So, out of pure, naive, prejudice, "James King" asks the only black guy he knows to help him get prepared. As a wealthy, upper-class, white man, he has no idea about prison or how things work when you're behind bars. All he knows is the TRUE statistic that 1 out of every 3 black men end up incarcerated at least once in their lifetime. So he assumes Kevin Hart's character; "Darnell" is an ex-con. "James" is too dumb and naive to see that "Darnell" is obviously NOT a thug or hardened ex-con (It's Kevin Hart for F*ck sake!) and he offers him $30 thousand dollars to teach him about prison, rather than using his last 30 days of freedom trying to find out who framed him in the first place. It's actually a super funny movie with a good ending, cool plot and cool co-stars like "T,I" and Allison Brie (in lingerie!).

Not to mention, it was directed and produced by Ethan Cohen, who has brought us movies like, "Tropic Thunder" and "Idocracy" (2 of my favorite movies). Not to be confused with Ethan Coen (the Coen brothers). Like almost ALL of Will Ferrell movies, it's a "Gary Sanchez Film"but this is his first time working with Ethan Cohen and together, they made a pretty damn good movie - I give "Get Hard" a 7 /10.

"Key & Peele" - East / West Bowl Rap Songs

This is definitely one of my favorite "Key & Peele" sketches. It's a parody video about the "Superbowl Shuffle" rap song that the Chicago Bears actually made back in 1985. That is the only time in NFL history, a team has made a music video about winning a game. It's only been done once because it was so terrible, laughable, and lame. Athletes should just stick to sports, it was a stupid song and low quality video. The "Superbowl Shuffle" was terrible and "The League" also made a hilarious parody of that video too. Unfortunately, the cocky Chicago, Bears actually went on to win that Superbowl (Superbowl 20) by a blowout against my favorite team, the New England Patriots by 46 - 10 !

The "Key & Peele" spoof version of the "Superbowl Shuffle" is actually pretty good and really funny. Its the "East/West Bowl", and all the athletes with ridiculous names that have been introduced over the seasons are featured on both teams. Including Dan Smith, hes the only white player introduced and he is the most generic white guy with the most generic white guy name, but he goes off in the song and ends up being an awesome rapper. That's why it is imperative you watch at least the first 4 minutes of this video to truly appreciate it.

ZZ Ward - Love 3x (NEW Music Video)

This is the newest single and music video from ZZ Ward and the first single off her new record, "This Means War", which releases Sep.18, 2015. I can't wait! ZZ Ward is one of my all-time favorite artists with a musical style that's truly all her own. I loved her last album, "Til The Casket Drops" - that was a phenomenal record from start to finish. So, I'm eager to hear more of this album and if it will be the same blues/ rock music. This single is a lil different; it has more of a Pop influence on top of her original style. It's a very happy, up-beat song about LOVE, which seems at odds with the album title - "This Means War".

James Holmes - Movie Theater Shooting in CO.

Just like I discussed with a friend right after the Aurora, Colorado movie theater shootings; something is clearly not right about this case. Why has the media / news ignored this case since the incident happened back on July 20, 2012? The general public got it's first look at this "shooter" when he showed up in a Colorado court room with bright orange hair and a dazed look on his face. He seemed like he didn't know what was going on, or where he was. It looked like he was sedated to me. What's happened since 2012??   Why does the media want us to forget about this horrific event that claimed the lives of 12 people?! That seems like something we should be receiving updates about...He is now in isolation due to "suicide attempts". and his parents have gone into seclusion and haven't said anything to the media.

Furthermore, Why would a super smart, neuroscience student at the University of Denver with a bright future, suddenly commit such a heinous act? It doesn't make sense, how did a 25 year old with no criminal history know how to operate semi-automatic guns ? How did a college student even afford to pay for all those weapons and body armor...? Lastly, after committing a mass murder, why would the suspect just wait outside for the police to arrest him?? On top of that, he immediately tells the cops that his apartment is rigged with explosives and incendiary devices. Why would he tell them that, after spending all that time booby-trapping his whole apartment with explosives so elaborate it took the FBI two days to disarm it.... Where did he learn how to do all that??!

This doesn't add up....there is something they're not telling the general public (as usual). Just watch the video and you'll feel the same way.

I've been called a "conspiracy theorist" before, but that's because the United States has a long history of government fuck-ups and cover-ups. It's no secret that our government is trying to take our guns. Even if that means scaring the general public into surrendering their Constitutional RIGHT TO OWN GUNS. There are plenty of responsible gun-owners, and if there had been one in the theater that day - maybe there wouldn't be so many fatalities and they could've fought back. This was nothing more than a ploy by our own government to scare the people into giving up their 2nd Amendment right to bear arms.

Someone wound up James Holmes and set him loose! Witnesses reported seeing a second man dressed normally, sat in the front row and when the movie began, he got up and opened the EXIT door and let James Holmes inside as the man left. Jame Homes, who was waiting outside the back Emergency Exit door, came into the theater wearing a gas mask and body and threw gas canisters into the theater before he opened fire. The EXIT door only opens from the inside & that would explain why TWO gas masks were recovered at the scene in 2 completely different places (but of course, no one is reporting on that).

A genius with a bright future doesn't throw it all away randomly like this without chemical intervention of some kind. The government brainwashed this scientist and set him loose, it's no secret that the government has advanced resources like mind control. There are surely surveillance cameras inside the movie theater hallways, ticket booth, snack station, and the EXIT GATE! But for some suspicious reason, our government won't release any of the footage from that night to the general public. That would clear up whether James Holmes had an accomplice OR if he even did the crime. All we have to go by, is eye-witness accounts and one crappy cell phone video that doesn't show much. Why won't they release more information and security footage ?! SHOW US the surveillance video!! What is there to hide ?

Smallpools - "Mason Jar" (Behind The Scenes)

A behind the scenes look at a Smallpools on tour, partying, and performing in different cities across America. It shows all the work and preparation that goes into setting up a good LIVE show and "Mason Jar" is playing in the background during the video. "Mason Jar" is an awesome song and hit single on both, the "Dreaming" EP and the "Lovetap!" LP.

Zedd - "I Want You To Know" (feat. Selena Gomez)

NEW music video from Zedd's 2nd LP, "True Colors" for the song "I Want You to Know". The only reason it's considered a single, is because Selena Gomez provides the vocals for this track. Zedd also has a song with Hayley Williams from Paramore, giving it that same electro-pop style as this new song. There are different vocalists featured on almost every track on "True Colors" and this is one of the most popular songs on the record. The video portrays Zedd as Selena Gomez' love interest, and now there are rumors that they are really dating. There are also paparazzi pictures of them spending time together.

Zedd - "Beautiful Now" (NEW Music Video)

This is the newest music video released by Zedd for the song, "Beautiful Now" (feat. Jon Bellion). It's not one of my favorite songs on his new record, "True Colors". But so far, this is the only official music video released for a track / single off this new album. It's still a cool song and a good music video, but there are several other songs that I would've liked to see instead. I can't wait until Zedd releases a video for "Papercuts", "Daisy" or "Straight Into The Fire", those are undoubtedly going to be one of the next hit singles on "True Colors"!   (mark my words)

Quest Crew - "Late Night in LA"

This short video shows members of the Quest b-boy crew that know how to "pop". They all freestyle and you can see the difference in each member's style of popping / dancing. They still show off that b-boy flavor with flips, kicks, and stunts. Not to mention, some very good, original "popping", which is a style of Hip-Hop dancing that looks like a wave moving through your body and isolating certain parts of your body. I prefer the break dancing, but this is still an impressive highlight reel of a "Late Night in Los Angeles"  with the dudes from Quest (Where is Hok??)

How The "Avengers: Age of Ultron" Should Have Ended (Part 2)

Part two of "HISHE's" "Avengers Age of Ultron" was just released, and it picks up exactly where part one ended. But this is much funnier than part one, and has much more to do with the actual film. It pokes fun at the movie (as always) and shows how other characters from the "MARVEL Universe" could have easily beat "Ultron". Just like you see in the clip, if "Magneto" was there, the "Age of Ultron" would last ten seconds... instead of ten days, like in the movie (which isn't much of an "age"). In the video, "Magneto" destroys all the metal robots and just yells "they're my children!" and points at "Scarlet Witch" and "Quicksilver". Which is hilarious because it's true, yet it continues to go unmentioned in these movies.

If "Spider-Man" showed up, he could've stopped that runaway train much faster.... because you know, that's what he does. "Thor" letting "Tony Stark" play with the scepter for three days instead of just taking it straight back to "Asgard" was a pretty stupid decision and very unlike "Thor". The clip shows how disappointed "Dr. Selvig" is  after "Thor" told him he needed his help and it was "dangerous". But, all he did was get naked in a hot spring of some sort.....?

It also shows how "Quicksilver" could have easily dodged all those  bullets and still saved "Hawkeye" (especially the version of "Quicksilver" that was in "X-Men: Days of Future Past"). Yet, somehow he gets shot to death in the film, which is something I pointed out in my review of this new "Avengers" movie.

As always, they all sit down together at the "Super Cafe" at the end of the clip to brag / discuss the movie with "Batman & Superman". I have never seen so many super-heroes packed into the "Super-Cafe" before, and of course they had to make fun of the "Captain America" bad language line in the movie. This is one of my favorite "HISHE" clips so far! It even makes a subtle reference to the third "Captain America" movie - "Civil War" !

Dizzee Rascal - "Bonkers" (Music Video)

This song is on the "Kingsman: Secret Service" movie soundtrack, and that's how I discovered this hip-hop artist / DJ, Dizzee Rascal. He's super popular in the UK and his accent can be heard even while singing, just like the singer of Bloc Party. Actually, both of those British artists remind of each other in more than one way. This track is good, but it's pretty G-Rated compared to what American DJ's are making. Even this music video is cheap & lame looking, but the song itself is actually pretty good and fun to jam to, especially turned up super loud! It reminds me of Bloc Party, but with a dub-step style instead of rock.

Zedd - "Papercut" (AUDIO)

This is just the audio for the song "Papercut" off Zedd's brand new album, "True Colors", released May 2015. Its the longest track on the album and quite possibly the BEST track on the album too. Zedd describes this song as "cinematic feeling", not just because of its length, but because it has a big build up with melodies that paint a vivid picture. He is a true artist, and this is his second LP - MUST check it out! The song above will give you a little sample of what the new album sounds like.

Unfortunately, there aren't any music videos for the songs on Zedd's new album yet. So, in the meantime enjoy listening to this awesome track and future hit single.

Zedd - "True Colors" (Album Review)

I thought I already published a review of this NEW Zedd record, "True Colors" (released May 18, 2015). However, when looking back I saw that I posted an album PREVIEW before the LP was ever released. It's a great, up-beat, sophomore album by this popular, heart-throb, German DJ - Anton Zaslavski (stage name ZEDD). He has a very non-traditional style of house music, especially on this album. It's not fast-paced dub step music like you would find on his first album. In fact, this new record reminds me a lot of RATATAT and sounds very different from his first album, "Clarity" (released in 2013). There is much more singing and soft melodies included on this new album, instead of his usual house/ dub-step instrumentals. Unfortunately, "True Colors" is NOT as good as "Clarity".

However, there are some really cool songs on this new album, including the single "Addicted to a Memory", "Papercut", "Daisy", "Bumble Bee", and "Straight Into The Fire". The album has female vocals on almost every song and features many different artists, including Selena Gomez. Overall, it's a fun and positive sounding  "electro-pop" record,  I give "True Colors" a 6/ 10.

I will post one or two of his new songs on here, you MUST check out "Papercuts" - it's an awesome song with a big build up and climactic melody / chorus that Zedd describes as "cinematic feeling" (it's over 7 min long).

How "Avengers: Age Of Ultron" Should Have Ended (Part 1)

This is the latest "HISHE" video, and of course, its about the "Avengers: Age of Ultron". This isn't the funniest "HISHE" video I've seen, but its just "part one", so there is going to be more clips to come. Hopefully, it will be funnier and have more about "HOW the movie should have ended". It's still a funny clip and this is the first time I've seen a "Super-Cafe & Villain's Pub" crossover.

"Avengers: Age of Ultron" - Review

I  finally got a chance to see the most anticipated movie of the year; "Avengers: Age of Ultron". After seeing the original "Avengers" movie in 2012, I had high expectations for this sequel. Unfortunately, it wasn't as good as I expected it to be. It's pretty much the same story line as the original movie: the "Avengers" have to save the world by fighting an entire army of robots. The city gets destroyed again, but at least this time they evacuate the city before fighting "Ultron" and his robot army. Of course, it still has excellent cinematography, realistic CGI graphics, awesome super hero powers displayed and epic action sequences! In fact, the movie begins with the "Avengers" running through the woods in Germany somewhere and fighting "Hydra" soldiers (when are we going to stop hearing about "Hydra" and "Loki's" scepter??!). "Hydra" was the villain in both "Captain America" movies and "Loki's" scepter is in both "Thor" movies and featured in the original "Avengers" movie.

"The Avengers" must come together harmoniously as a team in this movie to stop "Ultron". It shows them working as a team in the very beginning with an opening action scene, as the "Avengers" break into a "Hydra" facility to retrieve "Loki's" scepter. (How did it get there??) But, of course there is still some conflict within the team (to keep it interesting) and they fight each other again just like in the original "Avengers" movie. The two genius members, "Tony Stark" and "Bruce Banner", develop an artificial intelligence program (just like "Jarvis") designed to protect Earth from another alien attack. This backfires on them, as they have accidentally created "Ultron", voiced by the incomparable James Spader. The other two villains in the movie, "Quicksilver" and "Scarlet Witch" both quickly realize that "Ultron" is crazy and decide to join forces with the "Avengers". A younger version of "Quicksilver" was featured in the most recent "X-Men" movie; "Days of Future Past". Aaron Taylor Johnson (from "Kick-Ass" and "Savages") plays an older and completely different version of  "Quicksilver" in this film, and he sacrifices himself to save "Hawkeye". (I thought he could move WAY faster than a bullet?) There is a new focus on "Hawkeye" and his family that no one ever mentioned before. It's a waste of screen time and should have never even been in the film. Also, using his personal home as a "safe house" when "Nick Fury" is flying around in that giant, base / ship makes no sense.

Sam Jackson reprises his role as "Nick Fury", but he doesn't show up until the end of the movie. There are other familiar faces featured such as; "Falcon", (from "The Winter Soldier") played by Anthony Mackie and "War Machine", (from the "Iron Man" movies) played by Don Cheadle. They are the two new additions to the "Avengers" team along with "Vision", who is the most exciting character introduced in this film. He joins the "Avengers" at the very end and looks just like he does in the comics! He was actually an original "Avenger" in the comic books too. In this movie, "Vision" is the only one that can destroy "Ultron". My favorite scene is when "Iron Man", "Thor", and "Vision" blast "Ultron" with beams all at once using their powers. That, combined with a blow from "Hulk" shuts "Ultron" down. I also love when "Hulk" hijacks his jet and you just hear James Spader's voice saying, "Oh, for the love of God" before you see "Ultron"  thrown out of the jet.

Apparently, there is a budding romance between "Black Widow" and "Bruce Banner" in this movie, she is the only person who can calm the "Hulk" down and turn him back into "Bruce Banner" with a "lullaby". "Banner" disappears at the end, after saving "Black Widow" ... I don't know where that leaves him in the next "Avengers" movie.

The marketing behind this film release was brilliant! For the past four or five months, I have seen "Avengers" merchandise everywhere on practically everything. There was so much hype leading up to the release of this blockbuster on April 22, that the movie made $84.86 million on its opening day! Its the 10th highest grossing movie of all time in America and the 6th highest grossing film of all time outside the U.S. "Avengers: Age of Ultron" has earned rave reviews from several critics and publications including, The LA Times, The New York Times, Chicago-Sun Times, & Rolling Stone. Even Rotten Tomatoes gave this movie a 6.7 out of 10 (74%), and they're quite possibly the harshest of critics.

MARVEL announced that there will be a two-part sequel to this second "Avengers" movie, making it a four-movie franchise. "Avengers: Infinity War Part 1" is scheduled to release in 2018, and "Avengers: Infinity War Part 2" is scheduled to release in 2019. All characters will return (under contract) and more new MARVEL characters will be introduced. "Loki" is also rumored to return in one of the two upcoming movies. Like ALL other MARVEL movies, there was a "secret scene" after the end credits. This scene shows a clear sneak peak a the next alien villain, "Thanos". I'm already excited for the next film - it will feature a different and larger team of heroes and there will be even more characters introduced!

Overall, I loved this movie! To be fair, I grew up reading MARVEL Comics and collecting character cards, so I may be a little bias when I give "Avengers: Age of Ultron"  8/ 10.

Newest Quest Crew LIVE Performance

This is my favorite b-boy crew, Quest performing their "Lightning in a Bottle" break dance routine LIVE at the "Hit The Floor" dance showcase in May 2015. They perform this 6 min choreographed routine flawlessly, and it's full of crazy stunts, flips, and awesome power moves. Even if you're not that interested in dance, this video is still entertaining to watch. Just press Play!
