"Workaholics" - My new favorite show

I know I'm really late getting into this, I knew about the show but i always thought it was lame humor for some reason. I downloaded all 4 seasons and watched  2 seasons in one sitting -   SUPER funny show! The humor is a lil immature for my taste at times but i love the 3 characters and how they develop as the seasons go on. "Adam" is the wild and stupid one, "Blake" is the long haired, classic pothead, and "Anders" (or just "Ders)" is the tall, responsible one and probably the least stupid of the three.

They still manage to get into crazy escapades and foolish adventures in every episode that will keep you waiting to see what kind of trouble these friends will get into next. I love the inside jokes and terminology they use like, "tight butt-hole", "pornog" and "braage". Every episode is different even though all three characters live and work together, you never know what to expect. Its definitely a stoner-show and it's created, written, produced and directed by the four stars of the show (who all use their real names in the show).

"They Came Together" - Review

There was next to zero promotion behind this movie, but it did silently come out in theaters for a few weeks. I'm not sure why there was no publicity about the movie considering it features some famous names. Including, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Bill Hader, Ed Helms, Cobie Smulders, John Stamos, and Adam Scott. Not to mention, it's a hilarious and random movie directed and written by the well-known David Wain. Who also wrote & directed "Role Models", "Wanderlust", and "Wet Hot American Summer" (all of which star Paul Rudd) and the humor in this movie is exactly like the random humor of "Wet Hot American Summer" which came out in 2001.

Without even knowing much about this movie, it immediately reminded me of "Wet Hot American Summer" and even features a lot of the same actors. Including, Ken Marino, Michael Ian Black. Christopher Meloni, Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler. It's the exact same type of humor and even features a similar cast. It's that kind of stupid-funny humor, but  it's random and stupid. Its super funny - I give it a 8 /10 and I highly recommend this movie AND "Wet Hot American Summer".

Black Cab Sessions: Lykke Li - "I'm Good, I'm Gone"

"The Black Cab Sessions" has been an underground YouTube video series that turned into a collaborative movement within the music community. Dozens of bands from Europe or just touring Europe, volunteer to shoot their own "Black cab session" video, wherein the band (or just part of the band) packs into a taxi cab and performs a song in the backseat, stripped down and acoustic. It's raw and features some excellent & well known artists along with relatively unknown  indie bands that Iv'e never listened to before. The video above is just one of my favorites - Lykke Li playing "I'm good, I'm gone". I especially like this one because they perform a creative, rough version of this song that they could perform while crammed into a back seat. Plus I'm a huge fan and if you're not a fan of Lykke Li yet; just watch the video above and you will be!

As we know, taxi cabs in Europe are black. In America, taxi cabs are all yellow and sure enough, there is an American adaptation of this cool idea, called "Ram Jam Episodes". It doesn't feature very many bands that I'm familiar with BUT that doesn't mean the bands aren't any good. It looks like a relatively new You Tube series so we'll see who else jumps on this viral bandwagon, but so far, I prefer the original European version.

You  can find & watch these videos on You Tube easily by searching either: "Black Cab Sessions" -OR- "Ram Jam Episodes" and be sure to watch the video above!

"Let's Be Cops" - Trailer

This movie looks hilarious ! Daman Wayans Jr. and Jake Johnson seem to make a hilarious team posing as police officers. It reminds me of the cop duo from "Super Bad" - Seth Rogen and Bill Hader. They make police officers seem funny and wild instead of mean and brutal like the really are. I wish there were cops like this in real life! I'm already a big fan of Daman Wayans Jr. and Jake Johnson plays supporting roles in the majority of my favorite movies, so it's nice to them together in a starring role. It's guaranteed to be super funny, I can't wait to see it!

"Guardians of the Galaxy" - Extended Trailer

Of ALL the Marvel comic characters & teams to choose from..... The next Marvel Studio movie is about the lamest Marvel classic: "The Guardians of the Galaxy". It's a movie based on the old 70's comic books that were 'updated' and re-released n 2008 as a cartoon. This movie is based on the updated version.

It features the dumbest mutant team ever; including the 'leader', "Star-Lord", who has ZERO super powers and is oddly played by Chris Pratt. Also, the gun-slinging "Rocket Raccoon", the animated talking raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) that is also a pilot & marksman. "Groot", which is basically just a plant-man that can control trees....(voiced by Vin Diesel - another weird choice) "Gamora" is played by Zoe Saldana, she has super human strength and is good in hand-to-hand combat (It's the ONLY time I have seen Zoe Saldana not look attractive!) The last member of this team is "Drax the Destroyer", (the giant, red guy in the preview). He is played by Dave Bautista and is basically indestructible.

I think that's the entire team in the movie. I would've naturally disliked this movie anyway because its one of the least creative and dumbest group of mutants in the "Marvel Universe" - but after watching that trailer.... I can tell this is going to be a flop and another blow to the Marvel franchise. This movie makes "Fantastic Four" look good.  I'm definitely not going to see this movie so don't count on a  Review.

"Anchorman 2: The Legend Conrtinues" - Review

The sequel was almost as funny as the original, which is a cult-classic now. The infamous news team returns 10 years later in "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues". Steve Carell returns as the retarded weather man, "Brick Tamland". David Koechner plays the hilarious and possibly gay Sports News Caster, "Champ Kind". Paul Rudd reprises his role as field reporter, "Brian Fantana", and of course, Will Ferell brings back the legendary anchorman, "Ron Burgundy".

In the time that's past since the original movie, the news team has disbanded and all ended up doing different things. "Ron" is now married to "Veronica Corningstone", again played by Christina Applegate. They split up and "Ron" is now a suicidal drunk that works at Sea World San Diego. "Champ" owns a fried chicken franchise that actually serves fried bats instead... "Brick" thought he died.... and the infamous "Brian Fantana" made a good living photographing kittens.

Once the News Team reunites - the antics and crazy adventure starts immediately with a hilarious slow-motion RV crash showing all the guys bouncing around inside. Its a good comedy and very similar to the first one as expected. I don't understand why "Ron" going blind was relevant to the plot... it takes up a large portion of the movie and I don't understand why it's in the movie OR how an ice-skating fall can cause you to lose your sight..? Also, the pet shark thing was unnecessary for the story line of the movie.. I didn't get it. Other than that, it is a fantastic movie.

Burgundy is back! and in a big way. Fans of the original "Anchorman" will not be disappointed!
I give this sequel a 7/ 10

"Neighbors" - Review

This was a  funny movie, but not nearly as funny as everyone  made it out to be. If Seth Rogen is in something; I will see it. All his movies are great.....besides "The Guilt Trip". This movie is from  Rogen and the guys that made "This is the End", "Super Bad", and "Pineapple Express". So of course, I had to see it.

Zach Efron plays a great douche bag...it really suits him well and seems natural. He plays the fraternity president living in the house next door to Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne. They try to be the cool & hip older couple next door and befriend the fraternity guys. But they quickly learn they can't deal with the constant partying next door and the noise level. So, a simple noise complaint starts a full-on feud between the two neighbors. I especially liked the Robert De Niro-themed party and David Franco does a hilarious job playing the fraternity's vice president.

The scene from the previews showing Seth Rogen sitting on the toilet and falling through the floor does not actually happen in the movie. However, the dildo-fight between Efron and Rogen DOES happen and it's gross... but also hilarious. It is a really funny movie like everyone says and could easily be the sequel to "Knocked up" with Rogen playing a responsible parent / family man. I give it 8 /10

"The Expendables 3" Trailer

I didn't know "The Expendables" was going to turn into a trilogy and that it was going to literally feature EVERY action movie star. I really liked the first movie and the sequel was OK. So far, they've featured such action stars as: Jean Claude Van Damme, Jason Stathom, Sylvester Stalone, Terry Crew, Jet Li, Chuck Norris, Dolph Lundgren, Bruce Willis, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

A star-studded cast like that is guaranteed to be a box office blowout and a bad ass action movie. Well, "The Expendables" team is back for a third time and their team gets even larger. Every action movie star that people were complaining about being left out of the first two are featured in this third installment.

Well-known actors such as: Wesley Snipes, Harrison Ford, Antonio Banderas, and Mel Gibson all make appearances in the final "Expendables" movie. I can't think of any action movie actors that got left out .... besides Tom Cruise and Nicholas Cage. Jackie Chan was originally scheduled to be in the third movie but he pulled out. Just as well,  there is already Jet Li on the cast anyway. This third movie looks action packed as usual and has a much larger and diverse team of guys so it will be interesting to see the interactions between these action stars we know and love. I was disappointed with the sequel but I'm still excited to see the third installment when it's released August 15th.

NEW "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" Trailer

I am SO excited to see this movie next month! I grew up loving "Ninja Turtles" and it was something I never really grew out of. It's cool to see the younger generation getting into the "Ninja Turtles" now. I was also really excited to see the terrible 2007 version that was all animation and stupid (TMNT)

The turtles look like they did back in the 90's films with the big shell (how turtles are supposed to look) but without the poor quality body suits. This time, The turtles are CGI and much more life-like. Megan Foxx stars as "April O'Neal" which is a plus, but Johnny Knoxville is doing the voice for "Leonardo" which doesn't make much sense to me. "Shredder" looks insane and un-beatable!

The trailer looks dark and edgy - this is a movie for the younger generation of "Ninja Turtles" AND the older generation (like me) in their late 20's . It's got such a broad appeal and I hope the "Ninja Turtles" redeems themselves by doing a live action version that hasn't been done since the 90's and keeps going forward to more generations to come.

"The To-Do List" - Review

SUPER funny movie and not at all what I would expect from Aubrey Plaza. The movie is based in the early 90's which makes it even cooler. Its non-stop laughs and also features some of my favorite actors like: Bill Hader, Donald Glover (Childish Gambino), Andy Samberg, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and the beautiful Rachel Bilson. It's a  light hearted comedy that's easy to watch about an inexperienced girl (Aubrey Plaza) making a list of sexual acts she wants to check off her list before going to college.

It's so funny to see Aubrey Plaza play this uptight, naïve, nerd that knows nothing about sex. Rachel Bilson plays her older, slutty sister and basically teaches "Brandy" everything about sex so she can make a "to-do list". I love that those two are sisters in the movie and I also love how bitchy and mean Rachel Bilson is. The dialogue between the two of them is hilarious throughout the whole movie.

"Brandy Klark" is working a summer job as a lifeguard while she tries to complete her list. However, the funny antics go beyond the pool and "Brandy" finds herself in embarrassing situations. Although I will say - the poop in the pool scene was gross! I give this film a 9 / 10 (It's a GREAT comedy!)

"Wilfred" FINAL Season Trailer

I am a huge fan of this show but I don't care for the original Australian version. I can't believe the series is ending after only 4 seasons. There are still so many un-answered questions about "Wilfred" and questions about "Ryan's" past.

The season 3 finale ended with a big cliff-hanger. Not only does "Ryan's" asshole father die, but "Ryan" discovers what appears to be a dried up, dead version of "Wilfred" out in the woods. I want to know...is ALL of this really in his mind? Is "Ryan" crazy? or dead? I don't see  how everything will be answered in the final season. Why did his dad have that envelope in his office with a broken seal bearing the same symbol found in the drawing? Why is Wilfred in that drawing if it's 20 years old?

Guess we'll have to wait and see when this season ends. Already a couple episodes in but I haven't seen them yet. Looks funny as usual.

Wild Child - "Crazy Bird" Live on CBS

This is my friend’s band – The Houston, TX based, indie folk band, “Wild Child” performing LIVE on CBS “Good Morning” ! They’re super good and really catchy (especially this song). They have touches of different genres like folk, ska, and pop. They feature an unorthodox instrument combination which allows all these different genres of music to mix together so well.

“Wild Child” is a 7 member band including; a guitarist/ ukuleist /singer, bassist, drummer, trumpeter, keyboardist / pianist, and a violinist / singer. These instruments played together makes for a really cool and unique sound – they have created a genre of their own.

“Wild Child” started off as an acoustic duo between the 2 singers in the band. Their voices harmonize perfectly together like those of “The XX” or “Of Monsters and Men”. There are now 5 additional members including my good friend Drew.

Drew Brunetti, is the drummer of the band, but he plays several other instruments just as well. It’s good to see all those years of playing and practicing different instruments and playing at crappy venues is paying off for him. He's a great guy and this is a great band. Watch the video above!
