"American Ultra" - Review

__ I posted the trailer for this exciting movie in November 2015, so this is another late review.
Jesse Eisenberg has co-starred with Kristen Stewart before, in "Adventureland" back in 2007. They're older now, and there is a much different dynamic between these two characters in this film. In "Adventureland", Jesse Eisenberg plays an ugly loser with an obsession over his co-worker, played by Kristen Stewart. Her character was hooking up with Ryan Reynolds, so she didn't give his curly head the time of day....until the cliche ending when he finally gets to hook up with her. To me, Jesse Eisenberg just seems like a pathetic, scrawny, timid little bitch, and he has been typecasted as such.

However, in this film; Eisenberg plays a dumb pothead named "Mike Howell" that has no idea he's actually a CIA-trained sleeper agent. Kristen Stewart plays his girlfriend, "Phoebe" (who secretly works for the CIA as "Mikes" 'Handler'). She really likes him too in this film, but then he gets 'activated' and starts killing other assassins. So "Phoebe" uses her CIA training too, and does everything she  can to help "Mike" stay alive as the CIA tries their hardest to kill him. However, he was just trained too well and soon enough, this lazy, stoned store cashier turns into an unstoppable killing machine that the CIA can't just sweep under the rug. Although, there is that scene I don't understand at the end of the movie, showing that they are still being followed and monitored by the CIA. So i think there is a sequel in the making.

Topher Grace plays the role of "Yates", the villain CIA agent in charge of the operation to kill "Mike Howell". This movie is explosive and action-packed (just as I anticipated), and I've never seen Jesse Eisenberg in an action film like this. It's extremely violent and suspenseful, yet funny at the same time. Not to mention, Kristen Stewart looks sexy and does a great performance in this movie. I wish she was my girlfriend! So altogether, I give "American Ultra" a  7 /10.
