"Terminator Genisys" - Review

Thought it was over? Well, Arnold Schwarzenegger is back in this 5th "Terminator" movie of this popular franchise, and once again, it's over complicated with the whole time travel element. The first 3 movies were directed by James Cameron, and those were the best films in the franchise! They were all connected as a trilogy, so it was much easier to follow the story line. Now, it just seems like the same plot over and over and the same villains we've seen before. Arnold is almost 70 years old, but with the help of some CGI graphics, they manage to make it look like Schwarzenegger hasn't aged that much since the first "Terminator" movie released over 30 years ago. Especially when he fights the 1984 version of himself in this film. This 5th installment of the "Terminator" franchise ties directly into the original 1984 film, wherein the "Terminator" is trying to kill "Sarah Connor" and "Kyle Reese" is sent back tin time to protect her. Obviously, these roles are played by different actors now, except for Arnold of course.

Hopefully this will be the last "Terminator" movie.... Not because it was a bad movie, but because I think Schwarzenegger is tapped out now and the audience is sick of seeing him play a time traveling robot sent back in time to either protect or kill "Sarah & John Connor". The cast members have changed several times over the course of this 30 year movie franchise, making it hard to keep up with who is playing these specific roles. Plus, "Kyle Reese" returns in this new film (who turns out to be "John Connor's" father) and "John" turns out to be evil.....Then you add time travel back or forth in each of these movies, and it gets too hard to follow the story line. It's a good action flick, but not nearly as good as the first 3 movies, so I give "Terminator Genisys" a  4 / 10.
