"Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp"

David Wain brought back his cult-classic comedy film from 2001 and made a special 8-episode Netflix series called, "Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp". ALL of the actors from the original movie returned to do this prequel and some of them are huge, successful actors now, so it was cool to see the entire cast return 15 years later for this special Netflix series. For those that did'n't see the hilarious original movie from 2001; it was all about the LAST day of summer camp and all the funny and random stuff that happens over the course of this one day.

Well, now David Wain has made a prequel television series about the FIRST day of camp, and he somehow managed to stretch one day of camp over 8 episodes. It definitely has a similar feel to another one of David Wain's TV shows called "Children's Hospital" (also stars many of the same actors). What's funny, is that in the 2001 movie; the characters all plan to meet up again in 10 years to see what kind of people they have turned out to be. Now, the audience actually does get to see everyone almost 15 years later in this prequel.

It's the exact same random humor that was in the movie. In fact, this series should've been a movie....the run time on 8 episodes is the same as releasing a prequel film to "Wet Hot American Summer". The only difference between the original "Wet Hot American Summer" movie and this new prequel series is:  there is a much stronger focus on the actual campers themselves. Not to mention, some cast members didn't age well, so that makes the prequel even more ridiculous

In addition to all these comedic actors returning on screen together, this series also features a bunch of cameo appearances from various famous actors such as, Michael Cera, Jason Schwartzman, Jordan Peele, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Lake Bell, Paul Scheer, Rob Huebel, Jon Hamm, Weird Al Yankovich, and even David Wain plays a character on the show. This series is hilarious and FULL of familiar faces! Its a Netflix exclusive series and if you liked the movie - you'll certainly enjoy this short series that just ended. The series ties into the movie and everything comes together at the end of the series, leaving off where the original 2001 film picks up.  I don't know how the studio got every single actor to come back and play their role again 15 years later, but it's awesome.
